New Appraisal Institute Book Educates Appraisers on Mitigating Liability Risks

New Appraisal Institute Book Educates Appraisers on Mitigating Liability RisksThe Appraisal Institute recently announced that it has published a new book titled, “Risk Management for Real Estate Appraisers and Appraisal Firms”, which provides practitioners with suggestions for managing risks associated with valuation assignments.

According to the Institute’s press release, its new book (written by Peter Christensen, Esq.) also helps appraisers assess their liability and take steps to lessen their risk and protect both themselves and their business. It does this by examining why appraisers get sued, the elements of most common claims, and the appraiser’s best tools for reducing liability risk.

The book uses information from published court opinions and actual professional liability insurance claims and covers unique issues relating to specific areas of appraisal work, including residential and commercial lending, appraisal review, expert witness, and arbitration services.
